Course
- Arises at popliteal a. bifurcation
- Passes through posterior compartment of leg
- Lies deep to gastrocnemius, soleus, flexor retinaculum, abductor hallucis
- Runs posterior to medial malleolus
- Runs with venae commitantes
- Accompanied by tibial n. → first lies medial, then courses posteriorly & lies in the lateral aspect
