Inhibits cell wall (peptidoglycan) synthesis


Mimics D-Ala-D-Ala (substrate required for cell wall synthesis)

Transpeptidases instead bind to b-lactam nucleus

Time v Conc

Time Dependent -> time spent above minimal inhibitory concentration determines efficacy
